Just One of Those Flights
By Truus Welgraven
Have you ever wondered how many things can go wrong on one simple flight from Barcelona to Amsterdam? Well, I'll tell you about my last trip.
clock It all started on a cold early morning in December. My plane was scheduled to take off at six o'clock, so my alarm woke me up at four o'clock. When I arrived at the airport, the first thing I saw was a message on the notice board saying that my plane was going to have a delay of two hours. I had left my warm bed so early, for nothing.
When the plane at last opened its gates, I found out that my seat was on the aisle (I hate aisle seats), and that I was sitting next to an old lady. It's not that I have anything against old ladies, but this one started talking to me before she sat in her seat, and was still talking when we landed in Amsterdam.

We were not even halfway through the flight when the captain communicated to us that we had to make a detour because of bad weather in front of us. However, even though we made that detour, we met a pretty nasty part of the storm. The plane behaved like a toy, going up and down, and so did my stomach. Fortunately they did have enough paper bags on board....

After passing through the storm, it should have been dinnertime, but not this time. One of the stewardesses had forgotten the key for the cupboard which held the food.

Therefore, with a hungry and shaken stomach and serious hearing problems, we landed in Amsterdam.

Just when I thought that finally everything had passed, I discovered that my suitcase was still flying, on another plane that was heading for Mexico.

Next time, I'll take the train !
