How will this kind of conversation help me to improve my English?

Each conversation is 15 minutes long. During this time, your tutor will type corrections in the Skype chat window as you are speaking. After each conversation, you will receive an audio recording of the conversation. You can review the corrections and listen to the audio file to review your speaking and your tutor's pronunciation.

Small Group Discussions

How many people will be in the group?

Groups are usually limited to 4 people. This gives each person the best opportunity for speaking and interaction.

What if less than 4 people sign up?

The discussion will be 15 minutes long times the number of people signed up. For example, 2 people = 30 minutes.

What kinds of things will the group discuss?

These are only some of the possible formats for a Small Group Discussion. Your suggestions are welcome!

Students form friendship groups and meet every week or bi-weekly.
The topic is chosen by your tutor and is posted on the schedule.
Students take turns choosing a topic ahead of time, send it to the other participants, then lead the discussion that week.
Students read and discuss part of a book each week.

How will this kind of conversation help me to improve my English?

Just as in the Private Speaking Practice, your tutor will type corrections in the Skype chat window as you are speaking. After each conversation, you will receive an audio recording. You will hear your tutor pronouncing the words and phrases from the chat window. You can review the corrections and listen to the audio file to improve your pronunciation.

Classrooms

How many people will be in the group?

Classes may be attended by up to 8 people.

Can I still expect to learn with that many people in the class?

Classroom times are teaching times, so there is less interaction, but more instruction.

What classes are available?

Many topics will be taught and explained. The class schedule includes descriptions and dates of upcoming classes.

Class materials will be available at the time of the class. Please be at your computer 5 minutes before the class begins to receive your upload by Skype. Please be on time, because latecomers will not be able to attend the class, and we'll miss you!

English Parties

If you have taken the English Placement Test, your results included a free ticket to the monthly English Parties for students at your level.

What is an English Party?

A time for friends to meet each other on Skype to practice speaking English with each other.
A time to practice using conversation skills in a large group of people.
A time to meet new students and keep in touch with your friends.

When you sign up for an English party, you will receive detailed instructions for attending the party.
