One of my favorite ways to help students learn English is to read and discuss books in English.

Each week, members of the discussion group take a turn reading part of the book aloud. Next, I give suggestions for improving pronunciation, and we discuss any questions about words and phrases that are difficult to understand. Then we discuss our opinions and reactions to what we have read.

This has been very popular with the ESL learners. It is a great way to add new vocabulary to your list of "known words" and to add new friends to your list of "known people"!

Talk to your friends on Twitter and Facebook to see if they'd like to join you. We'll also promote the group in the newsletter.
When we have enough people who are interested in the same book to form a group, we'll find a time that works for everyone in the group.
