miss the boat
I guess so
Arthur: "Amy, did you go to the big sale on golf clubs today? You know I really need some new ones."Amy: "No, Dear, I guess I missed the boat on that one. I did get some really gorgeous shoes on my way home from work, though! Would you like to see them?"
Arthur: "I guess so..."
miss the boat = lose an opportunity
I guess so = I agree reluctantly
